Summer 2019 Session – she had a telescope she never used, it broke, she bought another one just like it (she now has spare parts) – she STILL never used it. We had 8 classes that time so we made the last one an equipment workshop. We both brought telescopes. We worked with hers – then we worked the 10” F4.7 (borrowed from the local astronomy club) and after showing her the techniques on the Club ‘scope, she had an ‘Ah Ha’ moment w/
hers, that one session!

Fall 2019 Session – He had a spotting ‘scope for hunting and couldn’t figure out how to use it for Astronomy. With just ONE ‘hack’ that took a few minutes to show him, he can now find anything, anywhere in the night sky for the rest of his life! I also mentioned a tool he could buy at some point to get even more use out of his spotting ‘scope.

Fall 2019 Session – she received a 130mm F5 telescope as a gift and struggled to put it together, align it correctly (polar aligned) and use it. During the first class she brought it – we got the correct angle set and she started looking for objects in the night sky. By the third session with her new telescope, she found Jupiter and Saturn BY HERSELF! I also gave Kaye advice on storing her new eyepieces to protect them a little better.

Nov/Dec 2019 – she tried to snag a JPL Tour for about a year before attending my class. She got my report then reserved a Tour on the first try, the very next time they opened Tours at JPL!

??? - she stopped by our place one night and mentioned that after about a year, she had not had any luck observing anything with her new telescope (that's common). After about 20 minutes, we were seeing distant objects amplified and in focus. She was very grateful.
